Owner handled in all stakes

In the spring of 2010 I bought Payton, he recently finished his derby career and was being trained to the qualifying and all age levels. At that point I was a very inexperienced handler having only run a few qualifying trials. Payton was a great dog to learn with because he was such a willing teammate.

Together, Payton and I have gone to places I could have only dreamed of: I had my first amateur win and my first Open win with Payton.  Payton was my first AFC and then my first FC. I ran test dog at the 2013 National Open with Payton, and then two National Amateurs. At the 2014 national amateur we came within one series of being a national finalist. One thing I know through all this is that Payton wants to please. He puts everything he has into every mark and blind for me. Payton is an amazing boy with a huge heart. I am proud to say that he is amateur owned and handled, and for the past three years, has been amateur trained.

Biddable:

Field trials are all about the dog and handler team.  Many will say that trials are won and lost on the mat. Payton is truly a team player. He wants to please and tries his best for me 100% of the time.  His line manners are impeccable and steady. He moves with you and for you on the mat, I couldn't ask for a better team player.

Marking:

Payton is an excellent marker often stepping right on his bird with no hunt. If he does hunt he has a tight intelligent hunt before finding his mark.

Water:

Payton has a great water attitude. He enjoys the water and is not intimidated by the big swim for that last mark in the last series. It is this attitude that has given him the win in more than one trial. When it is time to relax, if there is a pond nearby, Payton can often be found out in the water swimming around entertaining himself!

Training:

Since coming home to me three years ago, I have trained Payton with the help of my amateur training groups. Working full-time, I often only get a quick morning session to train and rely on days off and weekends to keep Payton sharp. In spite of this, Payton has been able to successfully compete at the All Age level without the benefit of living on a professional’s truck.

Trials:

Payton is one of the few dogs I know who gets better the more he runs. As test dog at the 2013 National Open, Payton came to the line no less than 18 times  during that week and saw countless marks and flyers but with each series he  settled in more and more.  He had the same attitude at the 2014 National Amateur.
Payton can compete back to back weekends and get stronger the more he runs - A trait few dogs possess.

Home Life:

Payton enjoys morning hikes with myself and my five other dogs.  He also gets to chase his tennis balls around the backyard and lies on the couch or in bed with me.  He then transitions from this to loading on the truck and running a trial with ease.  He gets along well with my other labs and goldens. He has a sweet, affectionate nature and a pleasure to be around.

I hope all this helps to give you an idea of the type of dog Payton is, please feel free to contact me to any further information or questions.
